Descriptions


1.ICT fixture, abbreviation of In-circuit-test fixture, is a kind of in-process inspection and test fixture which performs inspection on the electrical performance and electrical connection of the components in process for any manufacturing defects and bad components. It is mainly used to check the individual components in process and open circuit or short circuit status. It operates simply and quickly and can find the defect location accurately. ICT fixtures can test the functions of simulation devices and the logic function of digital devices with a high failure coverage rate. Special-purpose needle bed is needed for each PCB and such needle bed in manufacturing is called ICT fixture.

2.ICT fixtures include single and double-sided fixtures. Its general-purpose workbench can be installed on different test machines conveniently. It adopts adjustable bearing seats for easy maintenance. It uses acrylic, bakelite & FR-4 material (or designated by customer). It generates gerber file for drilling to ensure drilling accuracy. Its test program is automatically generated to avoid any error caused by manual operation. It is suitable for Trijet, Newsys, Okano, Tescon, Takaya, GWTshell, SRC, Concord and other ICT models. The distance between two test points or between the test point and the center of pre-drilled hole should not be less than 0.050” (1.27 mm). It would be the best if such distance is larger than 0.100” (2.54 mm) and it would be better if such distance is 0.075” (1.905 mm).

3.ICT fixture can check the electric performance of finished PCB’s components in process and the connection of its electric circuits. It can test resistors, capacitors, inductors, crystal oscillator and other devices quantitatively, test the performance of diodes, transistors, and photo couplers, transformers, relays, operational amplifiers, power supply modules and so on, test the performance of both small and medium-sized integrated circuits such as IC for all 74 series, memories, drivers, and exchangers.

4.ICT fixtures find manufacturing defects and bad components by directly testing the electric performance of components and devices in process. For components, it can find if a component is out of tolerance, failed or damaged, if program error exists with a memory, etc. For processes, it can find such defects as if soldered part is short-circuited, if components are inserted wrongly or up-side-down, or missing, if pin is lifted, if part is cold-jointed, if PCB is short-circuited, or if wire is broken. It can find the defect location very accurately by pointing to specific component, pin, or network. It does not need too high skill to remove any failure. Its test is performed automatically and controlled by program. It operates simply and quickly. Generally, it takes only a few seconds to dozens of seconds to test a PCB.

5.Usually, in-circuit test is the first test in a production process, which can reflect production status for process improvement. ICT fixture can find defect location of a PCB accurately and repair the PCB easily, thus improving the productivity and reducing maintenance cost greatly. Due to the fact that it can test defective items very specifically, it becomes one of the most important test methods to ensure high product quality in modern large-scale production.
